To increase exposure to rapidly evolving Computing and Informatics scientific research among faculty members, and graduate students, we introduce the Computing and Informatics Journal Club. In the Journal Club, we meet periodically and, in each meeting, a member of the club presents high-impact research in the field of computer science. By presenting its research methodology and the achieved results, attendees contribute to the discussion by exchanging different views on research issues.

image How it works?

  1. The club announces the start of registration.
  2. Club members submit a request to present a scientific paper.
  3. The unit evaluates submitted requests in terms of the paper's relevance and contribution.
  4. The presentation is then scheduled and announced.
  5. The scientific paper is sent to all club members to attend the presentation and the discussion.

Inverse Category Frequency based supervised term weighting scheme for text categorization

In the first sessions of the Scientific Journals Club for Computing and Informatics for the year 2023, Scientific Research and International Collaboration Unit, College of Computer Science organized a research presentation titled 'Inverse Category Frequency based supervised term weighting scheme for text categorization'. Delivered by the Post Graduate student of MSc. in Computer Science i.e Ms. Arwa Alshehri.  The presentation was planned in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science.

The seminar attended by the Dean College of Computer Science Dr. Ali Algarwi, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Dr. Areej Alasiry and  a number of faculty members and graduate students were all in attendance.
