Examination System

  1. A student will be denied to appear the final examination if he/she is absent from lectures and labs more than 25% of classes.
  2. A student cannot attend to examination room after half an hour of commencement of exam and cannot leave hall during the first half an hour.
  3. If astudent fails to attend the final examination of any of his/her scheduled courses due to circumstances beyond his control, the College Council, in exceptional cases may accept the excuse and arrange a make-up examination for the student within a period not exceeding the end of the next semester.
  4. Mostly, for every course, the marks are divided into semester and final marks, 50 each. The semester mark of 50 is distributed for Assignments, Quizzes, Tests, Projects, Presentations and Lab/Tutorial.

GPA and Cumulative GPA

Cumulative GPA is the total quality points of the student has achieved in all courses he has taken since his enrollment at the university, divided by the total numbers of credit hours assigned for these courses. The following example illustrates the process.

Withdrawal,  Postponement, probation and Dismissal/Drop Rules

Withdrawal Rules
  1. Students may withdraw subjects from the study at any academic level, without his/her being considered as having failed the courses, if he/she presents an acceptable excuse to the authorized body specified by the University Council at least five weeks prior to the beginning of the final examinations. Under exceptional circumstances, the University Council may extend the permitted deadline for withdrawal and assign a 'W' grade to the student. This semester will be included in the period required for completion of the program degree.
  2. A student may withdraw from a course or more according to the rules approved by the University/College Council.
  3. The student can withdraw total of four subjects in the study plan provided his/her credit hour does go below the minimum required credit hours of 12. He/She can withdraw only one subject in any academic level and cannot withdraw again the same subject. College/Program Council may make an exception to this if a student presents a valid excuse.
Postponement and Interruption of Studies
  1. A student may postpone study for reasons determined acceptable by the College Council. The postponement duration cannot be more than two consecutive regular semesters or three nonconsecutive regular semesters as maximum during his/her study at the University; otherwise, he/she will be dismissed from the University. The University Council, and College and Program Council may make exceptions when it deems necessary. The postponed period is not included in the period required for completion of the program degree.
  2. If a regular student interrupts his/her studies without submitting a postponement application, he/she will be dismissed from the University.
  3. A student is not considered to have interrupted his/her studies during those semesters when he/she is a visiting student at another university.
Probation Rules
The student receives an academic probation status if his/her cumulative GPA is lower than 2.00 out of 5.00.
 
Dismissal/Drop Rules
A student will be dismissed from the University in either of the following situations:
  1. The student receives a maximum of three consecutive academic probations for having a cumulative GPA lower than 2.00 out of 5.00. Based on the recommendations of the College Council, the University Council may grant a fourth chance to a student who can improve his/her cumulative GPA by studying the courses available.
  2. A student fails to complete the graduation requirements within a maximum additional period, equal to one-half of the period determined for his/her graduation in the original program period. The University Council may make an exception and award the student the opportunity to complete the graduation requirements within an additional period of a maximum duration equal to that specified for graduation.
  3. The University/College Council may make an exception and give students falls under (1) or (2) the opportunity to complete their studies within an additional period of two semesters.
